Dreams of Sunflower Fields
I was scrolling through instagram and stumbled about a post about things to do in Connecticut so I watched it. There just so happened to be a sunflower festival that day, about 30 minutes from my beach house. So what did I do? I put on my cutest “sunflower patch” outfit and drove there.
When I arrived to Buttonwood Farms in Griswold, CT the parking lot was an absolute zoo. I could not believe it - there were hundreds of people there. Somehow we found parking and headed out to the fields.
There was one field dedicated to walking among the flowers. It felt like we were in a corn maze, but with sunflowers. The aisles looped around and zig-zagged all over. The sunflowers were so tall, and so beautiful. I had no idea how many different color variations there were until this weekend.
We walked a little further and there were a bunch of tents set up. Apparently there was a Make-A-Wish fundraiser going on this weekend! In this sunflower field, you could pay $3/stem and make yourself a beautiful bouquet - all while donating to a good cause!
We stayed a little over an hour, crafting the perfect bouquet. The farm did have a sunflower ice cream that I really wanted to try, but the line was WAY too long for me! Maybe next year :)
After the sunflower farm we headed to a nearby winery - but you’ll have to come back to read about that in my next post!
xoxo
