The Best Cocktail Bars in Florence

Florence, the heart of Tuscany, is renowned for its rich history, stunning architecture, and vibrant culture. While most people think of wine when they think of Italy - Florence is also home to a thriving cocktail scene! I recently took my sixth trip to this beautiful city and searched high and low to find some of the best cocktail bars out there. Florence is incredibly walkable city (check out my one-day walking itinerary) and whenever I know I can walk my way home safely, I’m always excited to get to indulge in a few extra drinks. Here are five of my best finds - I hope you enjoy!

Giacosa

Giacosa was a new find for me on this trip. They claim to be the founder of the Negroni, but that was in 1919 and under a different name. While I don’t really think they can take this claim to fame, I will say they do make an incredible Negroni and so many variations of it! This bar felt really classy when we first walked in, almost to the point where we weren’t sure we belonged there. However, as soon as we sat down at the bar we were treated so warm and welcomed, it quickly became our favorite of the trip. The bartenders put on quite a show, and were quite skilled with some fun tricks! There were two real winners for me. 1. The refresher colada (which is now my favorite drink ever) 2. The owners homemade limoncello (which we bought 3 bottles to bring home). If you go there for anything, at least go for my two fav’s.

Rasputin

For those seeking a hidden gem, Rasputin offers an exclusive speakeasy experience in the heart of Florence. This secretive bar, inspired by the Prohibition era, is known for its mysterious ambiance and exceptional mixology. You do need to make reservations here and they definitely have a “exclusive” vibe, but I got the best espresso martini of my life here, so I call that a win.

Locale

Locale feels like you’re walking into a jungle nightclub. They are currently ranked number 46 on the best bars in the world, and they’ve never steered me wrong. The bar is inside Palazzo Concini, which dates to as early as the 1200s and has been flawlessly restored for the ultra chic bar. Inside you’ll see centuries-old chandeliers, mirrors and antique furniture accented with modern details such as green walls, greenery and flashing lights. The bar manager has created amazing seasonal cocktails using a low-waste methodology.

Manifattura

Mad-Scientist meets comic book meets italian cocktail bar. Manifattura is truly a one-of-a-kind experience. All their cocktails are made solely with Italian-made liquors and locally sourced ingredients. Every drink has a corresponding piece of local artwork they you get explaining the drink and its inspiration. Reading the menu may be tough if you don’t speak Italian, but all the bartenders can help you pick something you that won’t disappoint.

La Terrazza

You go to La Terrazza for the views, but you stay for the vibes. La Terrazza is a gorgeous rooftop bar overlooking the Ponte Vecchio and the Oltrarno. They do require reservations and are often sold out, but we were lucky and were able to snag a last minute spot. Our drinks were really good and so was the service we got.

Conclusion

I know most people aren’t thinking cocktails when they think Florence, but I hope you carve out some time to explore these incredible bars and please let me know what you think! Check out the reel I made that shows all my favs!
